What exactly is a good friend? Is it someone who will accept you, or tell you that you look nice, or maybe a good friend to you means being a good listener. Fr. Jerome Cummings once said "A friend is one who knows us, but loves us anyway." according to this quote a good friend is someone who accepts you the way you are. A good friend is something of personal value. The measure of the quality in a friendship can vary from person to person. There is no direct definition of a good friend. I believe a good friend is someone who will be there for you and is a solid foundation you can lean on during times of need and sadness. The definition of a good friend is up for interpretation depending on who you are and what you value. While interviewing people each of them had a slightly or completely different definition of a good friend. When Leanne Spruill, a 28 year old youth minister at Yates Baptist Church was interviewed and said, "A good friend is someone who knows all your problems and offers you advice. For example, an acquaintance, a word similar to a good friend. An acquaintance is someone who is known slightly rather than intimately. The difference between these two terms is that a good friend is closer than an acquaintance and usually is more involved in you life. Another commonly associated term with good friend is an ally. An ally is a person, group, or state that is joined in an association with another or others for a common purpose. Usually an ally is someone who is thought of as your partner in crime. A good friend will not necessarily join you in doing something if they believe it is wrong. Good friends will try to convince you not to get involved in bad things to protect you rather than join you and reassure you that your actions are
