Has anyone ever thought about what makes a hero? Do Batman and Superman come to mind? When people think of a hero they think of a person with special powers who protects the lives of innocent people from scary evil villains. This however, is not what defines a true hero. Three attributes that make a true hero are performing charity work, putting others before themselves, and being someone’s idol. Performing charity work is a key feature a true hero should possess. One may say, “Superheroes save the lives of an entire city. This is what makes someone a true hero.” This is true for some fictional character in a comic book, but what about real life people who cannot fly or have super strength? To be a true hero to others one should perform as much charity work throughout their lifetime, as much as they can. For example, donating food and clothing is one way of saving the lives starving people who are too poor to purchase food. Those who are poor may not be able to afford a home as well. Volunteering ones’ free time to go build a home with Habitat for Humanity is also part of charity work one could perform.
