Today, people are busier than ever, as many regularly overwork and forget to care for others. I am sure you and I have lots to worry about, whether we are working, raising children or buying groceries. The problem with society is that many are self-centered. We neglect being empathetic by focusing only on our lives and not the feelings and needs of others. Empathy is defined as the psychological identification with the thoughts, feelings and attitudes of others. It is imperative that we recognize how empathy plays a role in maintaining friendly relationships.

Last year, my neighbor’s mother passed away, which left him with his father. His father is a workaholic and his lack of empathy and care for his son has left his son in depression. To this day, as a senior in high school, he does not goes to school. There is no one that cares for him and no one to understand his struggles in his life. One of the most important needs of humans is love. We all desire to be cared for, loved and nurtured. Empathy is a trait that gives rise to the impeccable feeling of love we all desire. The feeling that someone understands you and your concerns evokes a positive mindset and builds trust. Everything is happier, brighter and more wonderful when there is empathy.
Empathy is a crucial trait that ensures the well-being of others through understanding, analyzing, and taking action to help others. The ability to understand and share feelings, thoughts or attitudes of others helps us all unite and stand strong together. Next time, when you see a kid who falls of his bike, try to help out.
