According to W.H.O statistics, in worldwide schizophrenia ranked as 9th leading cause of disability in 15-44 years old peoples and 4th in developed countries (Ho 2003)
Approximately 1% of
the population affected by schizophrenia. It usually starts at young age. Unlike patients with heart or cancer diseases, the schizophrenics usually live several years after the onset of the disease. They continues to be suffer with its effects which prevent them leading fully near normal lives- attending school, having a close network of friends , working, marrying or having children.
EPIDEMIOLOGY
The majority of studies shows prevalence estimates in the range 1.4 to 4.6 per 1000 population (Jablensky 2000). The majority of incidence studies shows about 0.17 to 0.54 per thousand (Jablensky 2000) .
