Outcome 4 Understand factors relating to an individual’s experience of dementia 1 It affects everyone differently, depending on how they were before and what type of person they are will also affect them. They may not be a strong willed person and may not be able to cope with the fact this is happening to them and they may give in, if they are strong they may fight and try to do as much for themselves as possible before it is too late. They may have already had an illness which can make their symptoms worse, therefore not being able to cope as well as others. 2.People who think that someone with dementia is mad or not with it can cause a stigma in society, it causes people to think that they are unable to do anything for themselves and there they others may end up thinking the same. This negative attitude can cause someone with dementia to give in, stop believing that they can have a life and continue to be happy and independent. People may get scared of them and be ignorant to learn the truth about
