Democratic Socialism In America

Recent events and comments by Senator Bernie Sanders and other high profile members of our political system has sparked a new interest in the idea of Democratic Socialism. This has lead to people asking questions on What is Socialism, and what is Democratic socialism. Could Socialism work for America? And is it already a part of American culture today. First, what is socialism? Socialism advocates that political and economic wealth should be owned or regulated by the community. Socialism is not Communism. They may be viewed as the same, but they are not the same. America has gone with a different route favoring capitalism where trade and industry are controlled primarily by the private sector rather than the state. Capitalism is working for Americans who seize the opportunity of becoming an entrepreneur. The history of socialism in American culture is disputed, but it is not a part of American culture. Some people say that socialists lead America’s civil rights movements making America’s freedoms more socialist oriented. A movement lead by socialists is women suffrage, which was to allow women to vote. Giving people of other races, genders, or even sexual preferences rights is not socialism, it is the natural freedom every person should have. It is stated Franklin D. Roosevelt introduced socialist
People go there to invest their money in companies for capital gain or sometimes ruin. The NYSE has lead many companies to great success with an increase of cash flow from the IPO(Initial Public Offering). This burst of cash flow allows the companies to expand their company in the ways they see fit. This is a redistribution of wealth like socialism but it is different in practice and effect on the economic land space.
