Denice Fohman Finding Your Voice
The speech observation that I conducted was on Denice Frohman’s “Finding Your Voice” in Santa Monica College’s Theatre Arts on November 16th, 2017 at 11:15am- 12:35pm. The purpose of the speech was how Denice Frohman found her voice through poetry, the connection of her poetry through her life experiences, and inspiring others to find their own voice. Denice Frohman’s speech was not only about her journey of finding her voice through poetry (which began in College) but also the process of poetry. Her process of poetry is to connect her life experiences through her words of all the intersectionality’s of being a Queer woman of color. Frohman also expressed the urgency of college students to find their voice in the political climax that United States is in. Through my observation of Frohman’s speech, I will not only illuminate her main points but also how she executed her speech. …show more content…
Most of the audience were college students and some facility/staff, so the age rank was approximately between 18-55 years in age. As Frohman entered the room, you immediately noticed her immense smile and semi-casual attire of neutral and well-tailored clothing. Frohman began her introduction by stating who she is and how she found her voice through poetry. She stated that “her journey of finding and defining herself” started as a college student. Her warm and welcoming introduction invited her audience to become intrigued in unfolding her journey of finding her voice and her life experiences through poetry by connecting to her audience’s college
