Joint Theater Career

Although I can’t answer all the questions about how I’ll do it, I’m certain that I want to make a difference in the world. Barnard’s atmosphere and its joint theater program are the main factors that have influenced me to apply. Academically, Barnard is known for its intimate learning environment. I’ve spent my entire life going from one close-knit group to the next. Whether it was Taekwondo, Dance, Theater, or The Commonwealth Governor’s School, each of those groups were empowering, nurturing, and noble in their own individual ways. Barnard embodies all of those qualities, which is what I find attractive. Also, the joint-program for theater really speaks to me because it’s my personal belief that collaborative endeavors create true art. It’s true art that touches the lives of those who work on it and those who see it.
Personally, I perform because I know that it makes people happy.
Giving people an escape for an hour or two is how I’m trying to positively influence the world now. Sharing the wisdom of a play with an audience creates a very genuine experience that virtually erases the line between performers and observers because both indulge in the moment. Barnard’s Theater program gives me the opportunity to reach out to more people, and learn in one of the most artistic cities in the world. I have a gentle demeanor but my will is strong. Barnard nurtures girls with unstoppable determination, and I believe that I stand in the same category. They produce women who take on the world and change it for the
better. I want to be a part the movement for change. Barnard is a place for do-ers, and I’m a busy bee who ironically has an 18-paged wishlist journal. Barnard feeds knowledge to hungry, determined minds and I know that I have a high metabolism. Barnard College cultivates the kind of women that I aspire to be like.
