Majoring in dance would be a way to keep what shaped me into who I am today. Dance is a way to express how one feels through movement instead of words. For example, writing a written word how I feel is the hardest thing for me, but if I think of one emotion and put a dance move to it comes out faster. While moving through these emotions it’s a way to escape all other problems. I want to continue my journey and share it with others around me and inspire the people around me. When I went and visited the University of Idaho in June I felt as if the inspiration could be carried on into

I can't dance. Most of the time, I shy away from dancing. But surprisingly, I have a picture of students giving a dance performance at Grinnell. A simple picture with enthusiastic dancers that I received during a college talk captures what I want out of college: a place where I can let go of my inhibitions and find fulfillment in anything that strikes my fancy, somewhere I can immerse myself in the multitude of opportunities and activities available and experience the magic captured by that picture.…

Dance. How can you survive a University with what people think is an easy major. If you ask someone who has zero dance experience, I bet seventy-five percent of the time people are going to say that it is an easy subject. When someone says that it is easy, I laugh at them and tell them that they have no idea on what they are talking about. There is technique that you have to learn, movements that your body does not want to do because it is not used to it. Then the sense of rhythm that need to be on point for the actions. It is harder than it sounds. When you first start dancing you break down the mussels and then build them back up to gain more muscle. I also laugh when athletes say that Dance is not a sport. I tell them to go to a dance class for a day and see if they…

When I officially joined OSU as a freshman, I joined the small biomedical science major and biological sciences group. In these groups, I have not only helped my peers with their academics, but I have given them guidance on how to simultaneously manage both their academics and fitness pursuits.…

My journey started 16 years ago right after I graduated high school. In the beginning, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, but I knew I was fascinated with science and medicine. In the first part of my journey I attended Community College of Philadelphia. When I got to college I had no idea which way to go or what steps to even begin to take. So I took a few classes here and there while I contemplated a career goal. After taking an anatomy and physiology course I knew that I wanted to become a physician. When I first began Community College of Philadelphia I was immature and didn’t see the importance of doing my best. My grades weren’t too great but when I realized my goal, I knew I had to buckle down and really show the determination and commitment I was capable of. On the second part of my journey, I was lead to Temple University. I knew that this was the time to stay focused and make sure I did the best I could do and more. Temple was my second chance. While attending Temple I learned many valuable life lessons. Not only did temple help shape me into a mature and well-rounded woman but it also helped me achieve the tools required to have a successful future.…

It also really inspires me to really give everything I have and to take risks. My aspirations for my career is to go into Physical Therapy. After my four years at MSU, I hope to be able to go to John Hopkins to further my education for Physical Therapy. After I finish schooling, I want to work in a practice for a while, then when I am more experienced, I want to try and open my own practice. As for my aspirations at MSU, I really want to be at the top of the class, and just get all the hands on experience I can get, and really enjoy what I am learning. I know that my dreams take work and a lot of dedication, so to help me achieve them, I know I need to set smaller goals to keep myself inspired, but having something to work for that’s realistic at that moment. I will use each of the smaller goals as stepping stones to my ultimate goal of owning my own practice. This will be easy because I work harder for things that mean a lot to me, and this is very…

This past summer I volunteered in the Advanced Physical Therapy Clinic at Dr. Manoogian and Dr. Guru’s office in Mount Dora, Florida to make sure physical therapy was the field for me. As a student of the UIC's Honor College I believe that I will bring new innovative ideas to my fellow students and to those around me. I not only will aspire to better myself, but to encourage those around me to be the best student they can be. As the youngest sibling I have endured through many challenges. From struggling to explain my opinion about a subject in a way that will back up my reasoning to asserting my role as a leader. Although at times I have felt like giving up, I have prevailed. I learned how to state my opinion in a way that is informative, yet not rude. One challenge that I felt I excelled in exceptionally is being a leader. I have immersed myself in multiple school activates that leadership is a necessity. I am currently the president of the twelfth grade book club and a board member of the Senior Committee. With the skills that I have learned as a result of those positions I will be able to implement them in the classroom and in school events. As a student of UIC’s Honor College I plan to make use of all the advantages given to me. With the benefits provided to me I plan to take advantage of the honor courses that apply to Physical Therapy. I would also like to study abroad if I were given the opportunity to because I believe that you can learn a lot by immersing yourself in different cultures. It would be an honor for me to take part in the Honor College as a tutor because as a student who has had the experience of being both a tutor and a student I know that it can be a rewarding experience.…
