Deployments follow a particular cycle and during this cycle, appropriately named the deployment cycle, stress and other negative effects are felt by active duty men and women and their families. To combat these negative effects families must reach out to other military families as well as mental health professionals. However mental health professionals not familiar with the cycle of deployment or the military life must become familiar with these families as well as possible effects of deployments experienced by military families. This review highlights everything from the beginning of the deployment cycle to the appropriate steps needed to ensure a smooth deployment cycle for the families as well as active duty men and women. While each military family differs from another the suggested methods can indeed aid these families requiring assistance that was initially only offered to their active duty military family members. By creating positive environments for military children the negative emotions and unhealthy aspects of the deployment cycle can be greatly minimized. By taking this as well as previous research into consideration the question of the affects on the deployment cycle on the spouses of active men and women can be expanded upon even more and shed light on issues they
