A haematoma is blood outside the blood vessels, usually caused by disturbance like in a muscle. It is different from a bruise as that is the range of blood under the skin in a thin layer. The first type is the Intramuscular injury, this only effects the tissue and the bleeding is confined within the sheath around the muscle and pressure can accumulate which makes it painful. The fluid is unable to escape as the muscle protection stops it. Healing takes longer as bleeding is only in a certain area and needs to break down but not as likely to see visible bruising.
