Descriptive Essay About A County Fair
Anna Wilkerson from the 4-H Club quoted “There’s something that feels so all-American about a County Fair.” The creaking of the rides, the mouthwatering aromas, scrumptious foods, and the wonderful sights all around. Covington County Fair is a thrilling and fun place.
The Tilt-A-Whirl spins quickly as it rocks from side to side with its bright, colorful lights flashing, making the group inside queasy. A group of children run towards the carousel to climb aboard the metal horses that are painted colorfully. There is a little boy who holds onto the pole of the horse as it moves up and down as the carousel turns slowly. Another favorite ride at the Fair is the Ferris Wheel that is displaying colors of the rainbow as it goes around. When the Ferris Wheel reaches the top, individuals can see the ant-like crowd moving around from each of their activities like they are in a colony.
After getting on a couple of rides, it is time to grab a snack. The smell of the greasy hamburgers and sausage dog linger in the air. There is a girl who bites down on a thick, juicy cheeseburger and as her mouth is bursting with flavor. The smell of the cloud of cotton candy floats in the wind and melts on the little girl's tongue as she stuffs it in her mouth. Because it is

The child holds onto the pole of the carousel so he will not fall from the bright, blue horse he is on top of. The teenagers hold onto the cold, rusty steel bars as they fear for their lives as the Roller Coaster speeds up. A family is riding the roller coaster together and the look on the dad’s face when it did a loop tells his family that his stomach just did a somersault. There is a couple at the Ring Toss game and the boy rings all three milk jugs, winning his girlfriend a big, soft panda bear that she hugs closely. It gets darker, the chilly, Autumn breeze blows on the faces of the crowd and they tuck their faces in the hood of their

“American Me” is a fictional film having a factual basis, starring and directed by Edward James Olmos. Released to the national theater circuit in 1992, “American Me” depicts the life of Rodolfo Cadena, a ranking Carnal (gang member) in the prison gang La Eme, also known as the Mexican Mafia. To therapeutically approach the salience and pervasiveness of gang membership, including its allure and reinforcers, would be a challenging task for any human service practitioner involving accuracy of assessment and effectiveness of treatment. However, endeavoring to find and implement such therapeutic methods and procedures for positive outcomes, while preserving Latino cultural identity and integrity, is precisely the purpose of this paper.…

The Scio Township Hall was nearly silent when I entered. There were only a man and a woman sitting at a table on the one side of the meeting room. I was about to ask if I was in the right place, but before I could open my mouth, the woman greeted me and introduced herself as a member of the Land Preservation Commission (LPC). One by one, other commissioners started to trickle in, smoothly joining in on the conversation about ordinances presented at the Board meeting a few days prior. I wondered if I was supposed to just catch on. After a solid twenty minutes of casual talk, Alec Jerome, the Land chair, finally called to order. Roll call was conducted and the following commissioners were present: Archer Christian (secretary), Jim Crowfoot, Alec Jerome, David Read, and Barry Lonik (consultant to Commission), and one relatively new member. Apologies were received from Leslie Desmond and Bruce Manny. I was the only member of the public in attendance. Then the agenda was adopted and the May meeting minutes were approved.…

When the Tulsa State Fair is taking over the city people go to ride rides, play games, and see what new weird food they have introduced this year. There is a part of the fair many people don't notice and if they do it's the smell the barns put off which often overpowers the smell of funnel cake, what I am talking about is the stock show. The stock show is where people from any age can come and show off their best animal, this ranges from your most fluffy rabbit to your fastest steer. The people who participate in these events spend countless hours training and preparing their animal for their ten minutes in the ring to see if the judges like their animal as much as they do. I personally showed beef cattle and I'm going to walk you through the steps of preparing one of these animals to show.…

The idea of child pageants creates much conflict and discouragement to others whom do not have children. Young girls whom participate in this activity are portrayed as sex objects just as women are as models because they are subjected to looking older and much more sensual. However, in some cases having children in child pageants creates social skills along with comfortability performing in front of others. The idea of little girls being entered into child pageants is intimidating to most people due to the fact that children are not supposed to look like adults until they are old enough. Many people frown upon the whole concept of a child being exposed to older men and women having them wear makeup and flirtatious outfits. As older women are also involved in beauty pageants, they too go through extreme acts of body changes making it harder for parents to fathom. Restricting little girls from engaging in beauty pageants or contests protects them from dangerous people along with remaining pure with their self-worth, learning to live as a child and not a woman, and retaining a healthy emotional mind.…

The purple sports car swerved briskly on the gray asphalt, nearly colliding into the unsuspecting mini van in the adjacent lane. “Will you stay in the lane?” I shouted in warning as the sound of my cousin’s easygoing laughter filtered the air-conditioned room. Looking away from my father’s unclouded computer screen, I gazed at my cousin’s right hand readied at the keyboard as her left hand dipped lazily into a crumpled bag of salty chips. Despite admonishing her, I could not help but be carried away by her infectious laughter and swiftly joined in. This was the very embodiment of my summer--leisurely days filled with heavily processed junk food along with the continued playthrough of our favorite video game: Saint’s Row.…

It was a warm autumn day, perfect for learning how to ride my new two-wheeler. I was so excited to learn how to ride a two-wheeler that I could hardly sleep the night before. All the colors in the tiny grassy yard of my family’s petite, powder blue house were breathtaking this time of year. My heart beating so quickly, it could have beat right out of me. I waited patiently on my tire swing for my mom to come outside. My new sky blue two-wheeler covered all over with the characters from My Little Pony placed next to the tall Bignonioides. When I came outside it was about 10am. I checked my Hello Kitty watch it showed that the time was 10:40 am.…

I chose to share a story about my past experience this summer with memory being triggered by taste and how the two senses work together to bring back a unique memory from a certain time period. During my time from K-8 I had a really great friend that I would always hangout with after school. We would walk to his house each day after school and when we got to his house the first thing we would always do is raid the snack cabinet. This was no ordinary snack cabinet, it had everything you could ever dream of for a snack! His mother would only allow us to have one thing from the cabinet and then would lock it up till dinner. There was only one snack that I always would chose, and it was Fruit Gushers. These little guys are a soft candy that burst when you bite into it. Inside the gummy candy is a little bit of fruity syrup so you can get two different textures from the one candy bite. I was so in love with fruit gushers because I could only get them at my friend’s house. My parents would never buy them for me or let me pick them out, so going over to Tyler’s house afterschool everyday was quite a treat and is one of my most fondest memories. This memory was recently relived, this summer 10 years later from having Fruit Gushers friends. I had the day off from work and I was over at a different friend’s house playing PlayStation 4. I lost contact with my friends my middle school after we split to different high schools. After a while my friend got hungry and ask me if I wanted a snack from the pantry, and of course I said “Sure!, surprise me!” He comes back up stairs and he throws me a yellow package. Sure enough it was the same Fruit Gushers that I had when I was younger. It was nostalgic and I instantly got thrown back into time and remember all of the fun things I used to do in middle school and how life used to be without any worries. This was very interesting to me that the…
