On May 7, 1864 Ulysses S. Grant orders the army to of potomac to head toward Spotsylvania Court House. Spotsylvania Courthouse is a small town off a trail on the way to Richmond, Virginia. I have always loved my county fair in Tulare, CA. I love seeing all the different animals and aspects of agricultural together in one place. My most positive thought of my fair is educating outsiders about my animals. This was my first time walking thru the Fresno fair so it was a little different not being involved in the dairy barn. I was able to view the fair as an outsider in some way. This let me realize some major aspects and some things I have never realized about the fair.…
What did John Winthrop mean when he spoke of his “city upon a hill”? To what extent were the Puritans successful at building this city?…
The Roman Empire was one of the largest empires the world has ever seen. The power and size they managed to obtain has been a constant subject of interest for historians and all those who are interested in history. Julius Caesar’s ascension to power marked the time from where the Romans steadily expanded their territory and by the time the Roman Republic dissolved and the Roman Empire emerged, the Empire had become so big that the Romans had then to face the problem of maintaining their empire. The Roman Empire maintained its power by romanizing everyone and everything they conquered, through good governance, client kings and their skilled military.…
Throughout history, human civilizations have thrived and turned to more sophisticated societies. Change is what everyone feared after settling down in a comfortable place. From Columbus to Galileo to Martin Luther King, we have seen how disobedience has changed societies and formed the platform for future advancement. This social progress can be seen in the arts and music with Beethoven, to political change in the Seneca falls convention.…
I was the oldest delegate in the Philadelphia Convention. Other than George Washington I was the best man in America. I was born into a poor family and became an inventor, scientist, diplomat and publisher. My career in public service was long, I serviced as an ambassador to England and France and I was also a Governor of Pennsylvania. I was a compromiser, I brought delegates together. I favored the strong national government that the United States had, I was a firm believer that the framers should trust the judgment of the people. Although I didn’t agree with everything in the constitution, I believe that no other convention would come up with a better document.…
In the excerpt of Jane Jacob’s The Death and Life of Great American Cities, she implies the importance of city streets and sidewalks. Although it is believed that police officers enforce the peace in a city, but in reality it is the people’s actions that keep the peace.…

The City Hall Council meeting I went to was Tuesday March 15th. It was three hours long, but I attended the first hour of the meeting from 8:30am to 9:30 am.…
Earlier this evening, I took my family of two sons out for dinner, and we were contemplating whether or not to go do Papa John’s or Domino's for pizza. We ultimately decided to go to Papa John’s due to previous visits being satisfying, but this time, we did not feel the same about the pizza and the employees. We waited for an hour for our pizza to come, the waiter was extremely rude and ignorant, and the pizza did not taste nor look like pizza. My family and I deserve a full refund and an apology for what had occurred at your restaurant today.…
What are you ranting about? It’s for us it is. Isn’t it? Don’t ask me nothing, young fella. I’ve no head. All I do is march. And if you want to know why you should be marching you ask the buck inside. Me? Sure everybody was marching the day… Well, for the same reason as everybody else. My reasons no different to anybody else’s. Wan man wan vote -that’s what I want. You know -wan man wan vote. Sure I know that. Sure I know we got it. Gerrymandering- that’s another thing- no more gerrymandering- that’s what I want- no more gerrymandering. And civil rights for everybody- that’s what I want- you know- civil rights- civil rights- that’s why I march. I’m a liar then? You’re calling me a liar, is that it? He’ll be telling me my name isn’t Lily Doherty next.…
As the CEO of an organization, one must make large-scale decisions on a regular basis in order to promote company growth, keep the employees happy, and achieve success. In this simulation assignment I was the CEO of Spectrum Sunglass Company, a company that provides its customers with high quality sunglasses. The future was looking bright because the market was growing, there was no pressure from competitive pricing, and people were being rehired after the recession. Spectrum had the opportunity to focus its efforts on creating new eyewear from more sustainable resources. If implemented correctly, Spectrum would be able to continue business with its largest account, BigMart, which constitutes for 30% of its revenue. However, not all members of the company were on board with the new idea. They believed that the company should focus its efforts towards getting back on their feet after the recession and not on implementing a new sustainability project. It was my job to convince my team that this was the right move. Unfortunately, I was not successful in doing so. I had some effectiveness in my efforts, but overall was not able to reach my entire staff.…
Are you a part of the 61% of people that think country life is better? Or are you a part of the 39% of people that think city life is better? 61% of people say that country life is better than city life, while 39% say that city life is better. (Is Country Life Better than City Life?) Their reasons include, the healthier air in the country, because of the lesser amount of pollution. The freedom to build houses, grow gardens, own animals and own land. Also, in the country there is way less traffic and crime rates than in the city. Living in the city may have its advantages, but overall, living in the country is better for you and your health.…
“Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.” Dr. Seuss. The first quarter has passed so fast that I have not been able to feel that it is over. Maybe, that is because I enjoyed gaining a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience. Therefore, I do not cry as it is over, but smile as it happened and gave me the precious things which will be mentioned in the next paragraphs.…
