Introduction Decision making is an everyday thing. According to Kevin (DQI 2010) it “is one of the defining characteristics of leadership.” It is something that you cannot avoid in life. The thing about decision making that people do not realize is that there is a process to go through to make sure you will be making the right decision for you. Explaining my own personal experience in my decision making process of relocating from Las Vegas, NV to Atlanta, GA will give a little bit of insight on how things should be thought and planned.
Identify
First step in the decision making process is identifying what the problem is. Once you identify what the problem is you can start to tackle it head on. When I was in Las Vegas, I felt like my life was not progressing. I wanted to progress and strive for more than where I was in life. I had to really think what was keeping me from striving beyond and when I thought about it; I identified that I was too comfortable and too dependent on my family. After I identified that, everything started making sense to me on why I felt how I felt and why I wasn’t motivated to go on with my progress. That began my thought process on how to get out of that place and state of mind I was in to succeed in life.
Analyze
Life can throw you for a loop if you do not think about it and watch where it is taking you. Once I realized that I was too comfortable and dependent on my family, I started to analyze the problem and dissect each and every one around me. Who was providing what? Why were they handicapping me? How do I change this situation? Why am I blaming everyone but myself? Those were just a few of the questions I asked and also went looking for the answers the moment they came to thought. I will say it made me really depict my previous decisions and also future ones.
