Determining Attitudes

In life people are filled with different decisions. Decisions are part of our everyday life, from what we eat, to what we wear, or to our next big changing experience. But somehow in one-way or another, someone or something influences every decision. There are many factors in why we get influenced by certain people, it maybe because we like them, known them for a while, because we know their knowledge in certain things or so on. It all depends in our surrounding. For example, in the first scenario, Alex, his best friend Tony and his new roommate Daniel decided to head to Miami for spring break. Alex and Daniel were new to the city, but his new roommate was actually a native there. They bought many tickets for different concerts that were available that week. As they decided to enjoy the trip, they decided to head to one of the concerts that were at a nightclub for a very popular DJ that was in town. The three young guys were excited. Once inside they began to enjoy the music, but all of a sudden Daniel disappeared, since he knew his way around his own city and nightlife, but fifteen minutes later he reappeared. But this time he came back with a little something. He offered the guys drugs, Tony without hesitation grabbed his share, but Alex was a little hesitant and said no. Tony looked at Alex and told him that it was no big deal, that everyone in Miami does it. It was part of the experience and that they were young enough to enjoy the life. Alex feeling at ease with Tony was convinced and took his share of the drugs. Clearly, his best friend convinced Alex to take some drugs. Alex knew the idea was bad. But Tony has been his best friend since they were in elementary and Alex trusted what his best friend said. In this scenario trustworthiness was used to convince and change Alex’s mind about the use of some drugs. He trusted what his best friend said, not thinking of the consequences or the facts that have surrounded him about the use of such substance.
