The quantitative measurement of the four dimensions of benevolence- of ethical sensitivity, spirituality, positive engagement, community requires separate measuring scales of each. A four point scale was used in developing this instrument.
Collection of Item& Item Selection
Interviews were conducted with 10 managers of Knoah Solutions and Bharathi Cements . and after reviewing books and literatures. Items were collected and theoretically 50 items were derived in total which were later refined to 32items that were considered as least ambiguous. The revised items were again tested for validity by three experts.
Revised 32 questions were grouped into eight pools of ethical sensitivity, spirituality, positive engagement, community.
The first subscale contains 8 items which captures leader’s morally grounded principles at work such as: “When I take a managerial decision at work, I consider ethical repercussion of my decision” and “I take ethical rules seriously when I supervise my subordinates in the organization”.
Spiritual Depth which is the second subscale contains 8 items which captures leaders deeper self-awareness, deeper self-awareness, self reflection at work such as “I believe incorporating spirituality into work makes a leader benevolent “ and “I try to find a deeper sense of meaning in my leadership and work”.
Positive Engagement which is the third subscale contains 8 items which captures leaders how leaders develop positive change in the organization through courage and hope such as “I persuade my team to dream big and think out of the box in the organization” and “I believe in my teammate’s ability to produce positive results in the organization”.
Community Responsiveness which is the fourth subscale contains 8items that captures leaders contribution to the society and community service such as “I actively associate myself in projects related to corporate social responsibility for the benefit of the community” and “I care
