Developmental Continuum: How Infants Make Short Body Movements
A clear example of developmental continuum is how infants make short body movements. While some two-year-old children can barely jump from a wooden box with the help from caretakers, other children can jump on their own. Children keep developing more complex movements with their bodies as well as enhancing their mental abilities. This can happen when children follow instructions, when children take turns or when children realize possible dangers when partaking in various activities. For example, children ranging from three to four-years-old are capable of going up a moving stairway. Children also do more difficult acrobatics but with more precaution. The three basic elements that these children are applying are coordination, balance, and strength. If the children notice they are not wearing the appropriate equipment for a certain activity, they will still continue because they are certain that they can complete this task.

The child who is a bit older is helping the younger student on vocabulary acquisition. Cognitive awareness is very important and can be greatly improved the moment children learn to share supplies with their classmates. This way, children pass on knowledge they have already acquired to classmates that are still learning. The act of coexisting and having good relationships with children of different ages, races and abilities is also a skill children have to develop early on. This will cause them to improve their social abilities. One of the oldest girls shares her sticky notes with a younger girl so that they can both paste them on the wall. This means that they are both developing their physical domain. The older girl pastes the sticky note on the correct spot when the younger girl places the sticky note on the incorrect

    I observed my cousin grow from the period when she was an infant. From birth to three years she was able to use sucking and grasping reflexes. Could slightly raise her head when lying on her stomach, with support she could also raise her head for a few seconds.
