Deviance is refer to any violation of norms, but more simply defined as any rules breaking behaviour. This extremely board definition does not do deviance justice.
Putting a negative stronghold on society would be considered deviant but this is not neccessary true. Criminal deviance, any different lifestyle than the Social norms such as: your dress code, sexual Preference, religious beliefs, marital status or any Other Conduct that is not according to the social norm Could make any ordinary citizen deviants in the eyes of Society, According to Henslin (2010) deviance is, “any violation of norms” (p. 154). It is all essentially the decision of any group of whether or not your behaviour follows their norms or defines them.
The Cayman Island is known to be a peaceful and relaxing Island where visitors use for a quiet getaway to relaxed their mind and enjoy the freedom of crime. The crime rate in the Cayman Island has gone sky high in terms of gun fights and burglary between the young people killing off each other and burglarizing the community. These are groups of young people who segregate themselves in different groups and form a gang against each other. For the past two months they were seven young people killed from gunshot wound between gangs within a week, this is something that has never happen in the Cayman Island before, therefore this has raised a lot of eyebrows in the community.
According to Marxism and functionalism become frustrated and therefore try to gain status through illegitimate means. They create their own subculture and reject the norms and values of mainstream society. Although they have failed in mainstream society, they can solve their problems by gaining status and respect from their peers within a
