Exam #2 “Dexter”
1.) Some factual instances from the video that show choice theories and trait theories is: one when on the beach with his family and taking the family picture when he didn’t want to smile but he did it anyway to make his family happy, it was a choice theory. Whenever he is about to make a kill he always make sure he’s neat and make sure he don’t get caught by back tracking, that’s a trait theory. He only kills criminals and people that should be killed, that’s a choice theory but it’s also a trait theory because Harry taught him that kind of information and Dexter pick up on it. Finally Dexter decides not to kill the cop in the last episode watch in class, it’s a choice theory but it is also a trait theory because the person wasn’t a criminal or bad.
2.) When Dexter says “I fake all human interactions, and I fake them very well” he is simply stating that he is good at fitting in with society even when though he is very different and abnormal. By Dexter deciding to fit into society shows that this is a choice theory. Dexter clearly doesn’t have to do all the things that he does when he encounter any human interactions. However he know if he did show all his true colors or didn’t interact the way he do, he knew that other would grow suspicious about him and risking a chance of him getting caught. This also can be consider as a trait because Harry always taught how he should do the things he do to make others happy and to fit in to society to lower his chances of getting caught and surviving.
3.) “A collection of learned behaviors bits and pieces, maybe I am a fraud” Dexter is stating that as he grew up off of another man habits and traits, not his own. Since Harry took him in and learn that Dexter was abnormal, Harry taught him a trait theory called information-processing theory, where Dexter store, retrieve, and process every type of information that Harry taught him to
