Diabetes is an incurable condition in which the body cannot control blood sugar levels, because of problems with the hormone insulin.
There are two main variations of the illness,
Type I and Type 2.
Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 diabetes accounts for about 10 per cent of all adults with diabetes and is treated by daily insulin injections, a healthy diet and regular physical activity. Type 1 diabetes can develop at any age but usually appears before the age of
40, and especially in childhood. It is the most common type of diabetes found in childhood.
Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes occurs mainly in people aged over 40. The first-line treatment is diet, weight control and physical activity. If the blood sugar
(glucose) level remains high despite these measures then tablets to reduce the blood glucose level are usually advised. Insulin injections are needed in some cases. The injection are usually injected in a quite fatty
area.
