Problem #1 The client is diagnosed with diabetes type 2. She is insulin dependent, she requires blood glucose monitoring every day. Although, the client is very satisfied with her lifestyle, the therapist realized certain things that should be taken into considerations. She knows how to measure her blood glucose; however, she does not monitor it regularly especially when she goes to work. She does not participate in physical activities as much as she is suppose to. Caring for diabetes will prevent life-threatening complications; therefore, the client needs to be educated on how to properly manage her health and wellness. The client works really hard during the day. It is important for the client to balance her schedule to accommodate with her health issues to avoid any further complications. Clients who are diabetics and have hypertension or hypotension should pace their daily activities to avoid fatigue. These clients should also pace their activities to avoid having an increase or decrease in blood pressure. Their blood pressure should be at a normal rate.
LTG- In order to avoid fatigue, Client will participate in a relaxation technique activity while learning to pace her activities to promote a healthy lifestyle independently, within 2 weeks.
Treatments
1. Pacing Activities- The client will create a weekly schedule independently. She will identify how much work she does during the day, then she will eliminate the ones that she does every day to perform them 2-3 times a week instead. She will create time for exercises. Gardening- The client will grow her own vegetables with the assistance of the therapist. Which will decrease the amount of money she usually spends on groceries.
Eating healthy- The client will create a schedule where she will buy organic foods at least 2-3 times a week to promote a healthy lifestyle.
Problem #5 Leisure activities. The client reported having a busy schedule; therefore, she does not have time to participate in leisure activities. The client has an occupational imbalance which is unhealthy for a person who is diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension. By incorporate leisure activities in the client’s schedule will improve her health and wellness while decreasing life-threatening complications in her life as a diabetic patient. LTG- Client will identify and participate in at least three leisure activities of interest to promote health and wellness independently, within 1 week.
Treatments
1. Yoga- The therapist will require the patient to participate in her favorite activity which is participating in a yoga
