Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Dog Days Book Summary

In the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days written by Jeff Kinney, is about a boy named Greg Heffley that is on summer vacation and has plans on spending most of his summer in doors but his mom had other plans of going on family car trips, camping, going to the water park and Greg wasn’t happy about that. The book focuses on how Greg has to survive with his family that he thinks is crazy. It also focuses on how his mom is changing Greg’s plans from staying inside all summer to going camping and going to the water park. The three topics addressed in this book are conflict, tone, and mood.

First, for Greg summer just started and he feels like it’s just a three month guilt trip, everyone is outside playing and he is just inside playing video games but his mom wants him to go outside. The conflict in this story would be Greg not wanting to do anything this summer but his mom makes him go on camping trips and the water park. “You should get some sunlight,
Greg’s mom the next day took him school shopping and he didn’t like the school clothes she was getting him. The mood that author wants to give would want to give would be embarrassed because of the clothes she gets him. “I asked if dad can get me some more clothes and she said yes but that was a mistake because he does all his shopping at the pharmacy” (142). This is important because Greg should go and buy his own clothes instead of complaining when his parents don’t buy the clothes he likes. This is also important because Greg told his dad to go and Greg will stay home but if he wants the clothes he likes then he needs to speak up and tell his dad. By the end of that week Greg was bummed because school starts that next week and he hated school, he also didn’t want to wear the embarrassing clothes that his parents got
