Musical Theatre is one of the popular type of live theatre in America. Broadway New York City is where the musical theatre is centered at. However, it extends tour to many major urban centers in this country. There was a long wait before the musical theatre in America got its own fame. The first musical in America is called The Black Crook. It was produced on September 12, 1866 at a New York stage. It was the largest production of theatrical performance the America has seen. Couple of the most loved musicals are Oklahoma!, My Fair Lady, and Fiddler on the Roof. These uplifting performances gives great messages and catchy music that leaves the viewers with a great impression. Comparing American musical theatre to Indian musical theatre showed that there are many similarities and differences among them. They used to have comedies infused with songs and vibrant dances done by the Romans. Although these were musical performances they were not considered “musicals”. Due to the growing viewers for these performances more people started turning their works into musical comedies and entertainment. Around the 1700’s two types of musical theatre begins to take form in places like Germany and Britain. New York didn’t see any kind of huge theatre performances till around 1752. The traditional Broadway musical became what it is from the source operettas. It got his heart pumping from many entertaining performances that charmed America since the 1800’s.
