Families with a limited amount of money to spend on food are forced to purchase foods that are affordable but may not be as healthy. Growing up eating a particular way can continue onto adulthood. Diabetes and obesity can become a reality in the family’s life and can continue to pass on to other generations.
What could put a stop to children falling into these circular dynamics? Resilience. The examples that I have discussed can cause significant impacts on children as they transition into adolescents and adulthood but with resilience they can beat the dynamic. By reacting to their struggles in a way that doesn’t allow the struggles to define who they are they can use that resilience to be better than what they lived through.
