Difference Between Riot and Rebellion
Many people believe that there is no difference between the definitions of “riot” and “rebellion” at the same time others think the opposite. Riots and rebellions have occurred many times in world history quite independently of any widespread notions of civil disobedience. It is very often mentioned and argued about, that is why a huge misunderstanding occurs whether we should call one event a riot or a rebellion. In the following paper I am going to discuss the main differences and give examples of these terms. According to Webster dictionary, a “riot” is a wild disturbance created by a large number of people, while another dictionary explains it an uncontrollable company or assemblage of persons (seems like more than four persons). At the same time, Law dictionaries determine “riot” as a violent disturbance of the public peace by three or more persons assembled for a common purpose. It can, also, mean an unrestrained outbreak, as of laughter or passions. The language of slang defines “riot” as an irresistibly funny person or thing. “Riot of laughter” - can serve as an example. A broad definition of riot, such as that one from law dictionary, seems to be the most adequate in this situation as it can cover almost any possible cause by which a riot can be incited. As usual riots are explained to occur because of certain dissatisfaction that occurs in society or adoption of a new law. Some people can try to control or even lead a riot, but they apparently seem to be typically uncontrolled and even unpredictable. To understand deeper meaning and intent of most riots we must understand the tension in the society, usually caused by unfair actions of government, lack of economic opportunities, racism, poor working or living conditions, religion etc., as was mentioned earlier, future sport events. Moreover, a lack of respect causes riots and destructions because when one side doesn't respect the other side and no one can come to a compromise, it

Throughout the years 1536-69 five rebellions took place, all of which could be interpreted as a dangerous challenge to the monarch and the state, at the same time all of which can be interpreted as not a dangerous challenge instead could even have strengthen the monarch and the state. Source X agrees with the statement as ‘each monarch faced at least one serious revolt.’ Source V suggest that a lack of leadership, organisation and ‘geographic limits’ hindered the success of many rebellions such as the northern rebellion or the pilgrimage of grace. Source W agrees with the statement ‘in the right hands and with the right circumstances’ popular protest in the sixteen century could have posed a dangerous challenge to the monarch and the state. I will interpret these sources to determine whether the rebellions of the 16th century did or did not pose a dangerous challenge to the monarch and the state.…

The circumstances that occurred during the summer of 1919 helped me to understand the period of riots. Blacks in Chicago expected more than integration. They had heightened expectations of social and economic progress. They were seeking housing in white communities, where they found themselves unwelcome and often times attacked. Competition for jobs and housing increased racial tensions.…

The events that occurred in Newark during the 1960’s should definitely be referred to as a riot. During the time the African Americans connoted wild, uncontrolled, criminal behavior. On the other hand they did have the aim to try to affect the government actions and policy, but they did it in an uncontrolled way. Using the word “rebellion” suggests that the African Americans had a clear cut reason to behave the way they did, without a justifiable cause.…

The white nationalist believed they were the authority, they had brought their own militia with their loaded assault rifles, camouflage, combat boots and helmets and the protesters showed that their authority was the police. The beachside suburb, known by residents as "God's Country", saw the spread of violence in a series of ethnically motivated confrontations in the week of December 11th 2005. This day saw the gathering of nearly 5000 people, most of Anglo Celtic background, some locals, some from other Sydney beachside suburbs such as Maroubra and Brighton, in order to "reclaim the beach" after two middle eastern youths attacked Cronulla lifesavers earlier in the week. The notification of the gathering was sent via mobile text to people all around Sydney, inviting them to join in the fight for "Australians" right to reclaim their beaches. Violence broke out due to a combination of mob mentality and alcohol and many "ethnic" individuals were attacked and assaulted. Signs and t-shirts read discriminatory sayings such as "Fuck Allah, Save Nulla", "Love it or Leave it", "Wog Free Zone" and "We grew here, you flew here".…

Should the riots by the peasants of the early modern era resemble a revolutionary movement to reorder society? During the early modern era in Europe, nobles treated the peasants with little to no respect and thought that the peasants would obliged to whatever they commanded. Peasants began to realize that they needed to stand up against the nobles and government in order to change their role. Peasant movements became revolutionary by going through with the idea of taking a stand and doing everything in their power to change their societal role. Poor working conditions and the government ordering troops to murder peasants caused the peasants to revolt against their government. Leaders of the riots, such as George Vend and Stepan Razin,…

We can only put a big cease to every action that lead to hostilities and attain better solutions for these complex issues, when we have a fundamental foundation. That is, edification. Education encompasses not just knowing how to read and write, but teaches people self-discipline, how to assess problems or issues and come up with practical, effective and realistic goals for ourselves and our communities, how to keep and safeguard peace, order, and harmonious living with all people from all walks of life, and most importantly how to improve our own lives, our financial status through legal means, and economic progress of our communities by working together and learning things from each other.…

So if one disregards culture in the making of peace between people who lived in different societies, attaining peace would be very much more difficult or even impossible than trying to make peace while putting culture in consideration. For example, if one puts people from Visayas in Metro Manila, he would be teased by and laughed at by the Manilenyos because of the way they talk or do things, I for one is an example of someone who cannot stop but notice the way they speak or how they act in the city, but even if that is the case I just ignore it because for me, that’s what they are and they were raised that way. So even if one would make an army that will make people to stop bullying one another, having to use force cannot stop the violence of discrimination, it would never stop, still it would return to discriminating one another, now where is peace in that? To attain peace, one must really consider their culture, respect them, accept them, and leave them alone and stop the discrimination. Now what is respect? “Respect is an important way of being kind and good to other people. Respect means not making fun of others. Respect means thinking of how somebody else feels. Respect is treating another person the same way you’d want to be treated yourself. You show respect by appreciating people’s differences, like seeing someone as unique for the outfits they wear, rather than thinking they’re weird for dressing differently. You also show respect by not making people feel uncomfortable, like not pressuring another kid to play on…
