Both Movies 300 and 300: Rise of an Empire, were over two battles that took place during the Persian war that spanned from 499 to 449 BC. The two Battles were the Battle of Thermopylae and the Battle of Salamis both happened in 480 BC. The main source of these facts come from a man named Herodotus who is called, and was called the father of history.
