One thing that really stuck out from the book Flowers For Algernon was something Charlie experienced, he says “How strange it is that people of honest feelings and sensibility, who would not take advantage of a man born without arms or legs or eyes—how such people think nothing of abusing a man with low intelligence.” (199). After the procedure Charlie was eating at a restaurant and one of the workers dropped some plates and the owner came in and yelled at him as the customers laughed at him and made fun of him.

Charlie was fully aware of his problems throughout the book, he just had a hard time solving them. He knew he couldn't spell and comprehend words correctly but couldn't find a way to fix that. This really helps to explain my thoughts on this topic.
People with disabilities no matter how severe, some are actually aware of their problems but they just don't know how to solve them or can’t. That sounds a lot like what “regular” people deal with right? I've had to deal with this so many times and I'm sure everyone has too.
