If the goal is to earn money, then a high prison population is the end goal. This will cause the prison need of inmates to replace those who no longer are in, meaning law will need to be strictly enforce or by giving longer sentence or by making them complete their sentences instead of allowing them to get parole. This is just like any other business, they will do what they need to do to have their “customers” come back. A study by Anita Mukherjee, found that inmates who were held in private prisons in Mississippi from 1996 to 2004 served 7 percent longer than those who served similar sentence in public prison.
