The Five,’ which is a group of Russian composers who were based in St. Petersburg. This group made it a point to show off their national heritage in music. Even people who had little to no experience of this musical genre, ‘The Five’ moved many people, by modern renditions of their work that they composed. This influential group of classical composers consisted of Mily Balakirev, who was often known as the leader of the group, Alexander Borodin, César Ciu, Modest Mussorgsky the one that was called the ‘unruly genius,’ and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, who was one of the most famous of the members in recent times. A great composer in Russia was Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov he was one of the most skilled and inventive orchestrators of all-time, Rimsky-Korsakov, was born into a Russian noble family, and had the ability to create shockingly rich and creative orchestral sounds, he wrote off of things he was passionate about. The more knowledgeable I am about my family heritage the more I can share with people who are not as educated on the different type of heritages. I can educate people about my family heritage if it ever comes up. The topic of music in Russia was folk music, the different types of instruments that get used are the Balalaika that is used for folk music, and the Treshchotka that is used in folk music and at many weddings to show not only a musical instrument role, but also serve some mystical role protecting the newlyweds from evil spirits. There are many famous groups of composers such as ‘The Five,’ and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, that are so much more than just Russian music, and instruments that got used and are still used, and the different composers who wrote music and who are still writing music in Russia.
