It spread like wildfire all the way to Canada (Knapp 1).The violence was country wide and the segregation in the 60’s made it the perfect time for the Ku Klux Klan to get away with violence. The group was mainly feared in the south due to the confederate roots and heavy black communities (KKK 1). The police had hurt the black community brutally and with harm. They allowed the Klan to beat the colored people because they did the same. This crossed the line of just freedom of speech but this was definitely discrimination. During a rally in North Carolina were the confederate flag was being taken down and not worshiped in the state anymore many of the members protested.
