Do you feel that these concepts are appropriate forms of remedy in the workplace? Explain
By using affirmative action programs, discrimination can be removed because of the fact the assemblies developed confirms that the weak group is allowed. Affirmative action can be carried out through a number of ways including the delivery of educational benefits, employment, and tightening. By involving itself in an affirmative action, a firm seeks to identify the past mistakes that it has committed. Investing heavily in affirmative action, a firm identifies the importance of workplace diversity and provides opportunities to individuals who are put on the back burner to be employed. Some people and companies don’t think affirmation action as a resolution to removing workplace discrimination at the workplace.

I also feel think some companies look down on woman as if they can’t do a good enough job as a woman. They think woman don’t have that confidence to be as out spoken as a man. A lot of men still think woman should be just house wives by taking care of the house and the children.

What else do you think could be done to eliminate discrimination in the workplace?
Reverse discrimination is also an effective method of increasing workplace diversity; it can also create conflict between two employees. This also applies to comparable worth as a method of eliminating discrimination in the workplace. Other methods of eliminating discrimination in the workplace are for the concerned firm to come up with policies that discourage discrimination. Any employee who engages in discriminative practices may have to face the firm’s disciplinary committee. A company may also set up staffing procedures that are designed to increase the number of women in every quarter that the company is employing new

    The continuation of the application of affirmative action in the labor market. “Affirmative action is one of the most controversial government interventions in the labor market since the abolition of slavery.”(Jonathan Leonard) Affirmative action pertaining to the labor market takes a very different stance. Under Executive Order 11246 (part of the Civil Rights Act), “ you are not to discriminate against any employee because of race, color, religion and sex, as well as take affirmative action to ensure that there is a diversity of employees”. This maybe one of the only circumstances where federal pressure is advantageous, and statistics show that establishments are growing to give more job openings specially for african americans, hispanics and other minorities, decreasing its 89% white-hiring percentage. The effects of these kinds of policies are significant on a 99% confidence level or better, and have resulted in better representation in establishments(especially minority females) and also benefit companies in their own employment growth. However, these job openings are mainly in unskilled positions reducing the production of specially-skilled members of society, and basically producing only white specialties.     I found your Discussion Board Forum 4 post quite interesting. I didn’t agree with the post in its entirety. Opening a new business is hard work. Anyone looking into opening a business should thoroughly do their research. Betty has done some great ground work by researching a few franchises. The franchise concept is a great option for someone new to the business world. The franchisor usually continues to support the operation of the franchisee 's business by providing advertising, accounting, training, related services, and in many instances, products needed by the franchisee. (Satterlee, 2009). Betty would not be in business by herself. She would have professional advice throughout this journey. If Betty chose a sole proprietorship she would solely be responsible. Franchising means using a tried and tested formula to benefit from the experience and support of the franchisor (Schizas, 2013).I don’t agree that she shouldn’t employ Emma solely because of beliefs. Emma would be an employee not a partner. Emma is fully aware that Betty wants to run a Christian coffee shop. I would not choose Alice to partner, because of her husband’s firm beliefs that his wife should be at home. I would not want to start any family problems. However, I do believe that Betty’s husband could be her business partner. The financial contributions will assist greatly with Betty’s goals. I agree that Betty needs to consider other names for her business, because “The Gathering Place” was taken”. I think it is a great idea for her to name her business something that lets customers now that it is a coffee shop. Betty should look at the pros and cons of all the business types and go from there. Regardless of what decision Betty makes she needs to look to God for guidance to make the right decisions.…
