In life a person's character plays a huge role in the path and difficulty of the terrain they might face. Granted every path will have its rough spots, but by having a well rounded character that person will be able to easily maneuver those obstacles allowing a happy life. But above all other characteristics, honesty is the key to a successful and happy life. Although at times dishonesty is the key to a successful and happy life. These times may be rare and special cases that involve being deceitful for the greater good. There has been a recent war on drugs around the world. This war is in the communities of American cities. The combatants in this war are the men and women who serve as law enforcement personnel. They put their lives on the line in order to keep our streets safe. Although some give a little more than others. In this case these are the men and women who go on deep cover operations to try and stop the threat at the source. It is their duty to infiltrate the most notorious criminal organizations in order to keep the street free of drugs. When officers infiltrate the organizations, they may use deceit to be accepted. Officers must pose as fictitious persons with completely different lives to play the part of other organization members. Once officers infiltrate an organization a
segment of their lives becomes a form of dishonesty. They cannot divulge their true identity at the risk of putting their lives in jeopardy. While in the organization, they gain useful intel in an attempt to shut down their operation. Countless lives are spared from drugs through the officers’ utilization of deceit. Operations like this are overseen very carefully by officers who rely on trust and honesty to get the job done. Officers in the military and law enforcement occupation heavily rely upon trust and honesty to accomplish their objectives. In order for a unit to function efficiently, trust must be established among its member. It’s imperative that each person understands their role and the means to perform to the best of their ability. If honesty and safety is to prevail, the inability to carry out their objective needs to be communicated to their supervisor. To ensure honesty among its members, an officer should lead by example. To ensure trust, it is the duty of the lead officer to be completely open and honest to his team, especially during missions and how each member can improve the team. Completing the task of openness and honesty is difficult, but is best for everyone. Not only does honesty improve a team as a whole but provides individual benefits. Through humility a person can improve upon their character by receiving correction from others. At times constructive criticism can come across as offensive. It is imperative to receive this criticism as a means of improving one’s character traits with honesty. Honesty develops wisdom bringing beneficial character traits for a successful life. Honesty is not just a single trait but is one that opens a gate to multiple attributes such as humility.
