Assignment #1
Disney
When I first think of Disney what comes to mind is my childhood and togetherness. Disney was the stepping-stone of my youth. What I mean by stepping-stone is that it was apart of my life and represented different things at different times. My brothers and I used to watch Disney movies any chance we could get. I remember my first Disney movie I saw was Robin Hood and I loved the main character “Robin Hood” and he was a fox. Many of my childhood memories consisted of a Disney movie being involved some way. Whether it was watching them together as a family on Sunday afternoons after church or traveling to see more family and plugging in a movie on the road.
As my brothers and I grew older and transitioned to being teenagers watching Disney never lessened. But it did progress into the Disney Channel. I believe this happened because it matched our age and we had more in common with the characters. But whether it was the Disney Channel or Disney movies the same principal of watching them meant togetherness. Whether it was the Little Mermaid or Even Stevens, family and friends were always around and together we watched.
Another part of my childhood involving Disney was collecting Disney stuffed animals. I remember how going to the Disney store in the mall was such a treat because that is where our collection started. My brothers and I collectively had every stuffed animal from every movie. Our childhood dream was to get to go to Disney World and ride all the rides and take pictures with all our favorite characters. Unfortunately, my family never made it to any Disney theme park so collecting the stuffed animals was our way of bringing the theme park to us. That dream remains the same dream today.
When I hear people reminisce about their childhood memories with their families Disney World or Disney Land is always a story they love to tell. Personally when I think of Disney I think of still wanting to scratch
