Disney To The Rescue, Again!
For the final singing scene, we were looking at songs from the famous Disney movie High School Musical. Eventually we decided on the song Stick to the Status Quo. This song was very suitable for our scene because the song consists of four solos, which was perfect because we had four passengers on the train. The solos were in the same order as the contemplation scenes were: beginning with Olivia, then Luke, then Kim, and lastly me. We immediately started changing the lyrics to match our particular topics. Each passenger partook in an individual solo that pertained to his or her water issue topic. Furthermore, we also started think of our ending scene, which would show the decisions that each passenger takes. Since part of our message of our performance deals with the issue the United States, we decided to also show the ignorance of the American population through ending scene because not everyone chooses to do the right eco-friendly thing. With this in mind, we decided that two of the passengers would pick the wrong decision, which highlights the ignorance of the public in the United States. Olivia and Kim will be choosing the right decision, where as Luke and I will be choosing the wrong decision. Olivia will decide to read into the book and try to get people to come together to help the water issues. Kim will choose to turn of the faucet when not needed in order to conserve water. On the other hand, Luke will choose to go with bottles water, instead of tap and I will choose to ignore and disregard the water pollution because I’m too busy with my own personal problems. This shows that now every one in the United States population does the right thing despite the fact of knowing the consequences bring out their ignorance to water issues in America.

The central argument of the film is that there is a risk caused by contaminated drinking water from ground water sources which tends to be a result of hydraulic fracking. All water is connected so if an individual or company pollutes an area where the water is, the water will inevitably become polluted over time as well. This argument is effective mostly due to the fact that the film showed that the government and large cooperations were getting away with being responsible for causing health concerns for both humans and animals. Additionally, this documentary used the stories of real people that were living through terrible situations.…

A loud “whoosh” echoes throughout the dark distant auditorium, and in an instant huge gleaming lights lower themselves upon the stage. The stage sits empty, lifeless, waiting, listening..listening for one to drop jaws with their all-knowing Mozart Symphony or disappoint with a piece that has no rhythm. With each day a new audience gathers around to join the stage in listening. To some it just may be a song, but to others it is a message, a chapter, a story. A story that throws all of life's up’s, all of life's downs. All of it’s good days, it’s bad days. Everything described on one sheet of paper.. But ultimately that was the audience's choice. The stage waited each day for the next performer, for the next song..With each passing person a new song, a new story told, and here is mine.…

In the above lines pulled from the poem "One Today", I put the words in bold that I would change if I had been the author. I would change the word "write" to deliver, because anyone can write a poem, but Blanco was stating that his mothers hard work got him where he is today, and not everyone is able to deliver a speech at a presidential inauguration. In the second and third examples, I would change "hear" to observe and "tired" to weary, as I believe those are stronger word choices that will get the authors point across with more conviction. I would change the word "head" in the fourth example to trudge, because in the following lines, he gives examples of hardship and is trying to convey how exhausted the person is. Finally, I would change…

When I think about fairy tales, the stories that first come to mind are Cinderella, Snow White, and Beauty and the Beast. I think of these stories and books as products of Walt Disney, and assumed that to be their place of origin. The Disney Spell is that Walt Disney made it so that when you think of certain fairy tales, you automatically think of him. Thus, eliminating the true origin of those fairy tales. After going through this reading, I realized that I was one of the victims under the Disney Spell. Walt Disney concentrated on these fairy tales because of their “rags to riches” story lines, and those stories reminded him of his own upbringing. But he altered them in a way that appealed more to his American audience, which I believe is…

The Voices of Hope and the Advanced Women’s Ensemble were traveling to Orlando to attend one of the most notable choral competitions in the nation, Festival Disney. Being a part of the Advanced Women’s Ensemble, I practiced everyday leading up to this, and now we were approaching the city where our dreams…

In article "Her Prince Has Come. Critics, Too" by Brooks Barns mainly argues about Disney movies not having a certain race. For example, they used "The Princess and The Frog" as an evidence to support in which the first black princess spend the most of her time in a form of frog, and people assume that is because Disney movies, does not want any black princess or prince to be shown. However, the article also states that Disney has always been criticized by the same people again and again. In the article author states, "Disney often gets criticized no matter how carefully it strives to put together its television shows, theme-park attractions, and movies. Disney. A word that connotes childhood enjoyment, its messages of love and happiness influencing us for the better. This is exactly what Disney would like us to believe. Despite what they say, there is a sinister side to this innocence. Its messages have been corrupting our poor, unsuspecting children. How beauty is imperative in order to succeed in life; how only the beautiful can achieve their own ‘happy ending; how people who are less than ‘perfect’ are dark and evil. How can anyone truly feel comfortable with themselves, when such horrifying messages have subconsciously consumed our minds?…

    Why I Love Music

Music has always been apart of my life; it has become a medium of experiencing my own thoughts and a reflection of my identity. The development in exploring and experiencing music is what transitioned me from a kid conforming to the typical "preppy" suburban lifestyle, to an individualistic adult with a voice. I began to connect the emotions and experiences I’ve had in life with the music I was listening to. The song "Ocean Man" conjures the image of when my friends and I would skateboard all day, from our houses to the heart of Shanghai. We would be dipping and ducking amongst the masses as we rolled through our smoggy reality. The song “Messes of Men” reminds me of the sorrow in my step as I boarded a plane leaving China.…
