Disrespect and Disrespectful The definition of disrespect is rudeness or a lack of courtesy. (noun) An example of disrespect is not saying “Thank you” to someone who helps you. To disrespect means to show rudeness or a lack of respect. (verb) An example of to disrespect is for a child to call his mother rude names. (Webster) Disrespect is a lack of respect for someone. For instance, if you are mean to your parents that is considered disrespectful. Teenagers often show disrespect to their parents. It can be viewed in many different ways by many different people. It represents many things to many people and can never be seen the same way or understood by any but the person who feels that way. In my essay I will describe the word disrespect as a tool, an action or behavior that can harmfully affect the moral of a person. Disrespect can badly influence the moral of a person in various ways. For example on the job, when the disrespect comes from a person of a higher position directed at a person of a lower position it can really tend to irritate the person of lower position. The disrespect from the higher position person can make the lower position person feel incompetent. There are many reasons why disrespect is also an unwanted and unwelcome within a unit on the job. Most of them lead to the general downfall of an entity. Disrespect cause fractures between the coworkers. It’s lead to the feeling of a harsh and hostile working environment. Disrespect can break down the individual emotionally and also cause heightened aggressions between the individuals involved. Disrespect and disrespectful behavior can have serious consequences. Bullying, pointing, name-calling, lying about someone, laughing at someone or speaking in a disrespectful manner to someone are all ways to being disrespectful.
