Long Distance Learning Is More Effective than Traditional on Campus Schooling
As technology advances nowadays, the popularity of online schools has grown over the previous years. Online schooling has become an accessible option for Colleges and Universities due to the improvements of technology. Students can have their lecture and studies through electronic devices such as computers, and videoconferencing. There are many colleges and universities are trying online schooling program to improve their teaching quality. Most of the students and teachers are familiar with the navigation of online courses. Both campus schooling and long distance learning have many pros and cons, but the pros of long distance learning outweigh the pros of traditional campus schooling. In the day and age of technology, long distance learning is much more effective than campus schooling. Although some people oppose distance learning, there is evidence that distance learning shown positive results on students’ performance.
Distance learning is widely gaining popularity easily because it lets people to enrol and take up courses when someone who are not able to enrol a class in college or university. Some people might say that distance learning lack of face-to-face interactions, affects students’ performance, and they prefer face-to-face interaction because it enhances critical thinking and problem-solving skills. On the other hand, some researchers conducted a study on online learning from 1996 to July 2008 that shown student in distance learning conditions performed better than students who receiving campus schooling (Means, Toyama, Murphy, Bakia, and Jones, 2009). Distance learning brought convenience and time flexibility to people who cannot attend the lecture every day. It motivated people to pay attention in their studies while not being distracted by culture diversity of the lecture hall.
