1. Introduction In 1964, the Congress of the United States passed the Civil Rights Act. Title VII of this act prohibited employers from engaging in employment discrimination based purely on race, color, religion, gender and national origin. Such a national policy marked the beginnings of a culturally diverse workforce.
A diversity workforce exists in a group or organization when its members differ from one another along one or more important dimensions. The diverse workforce include there mains components which are racial and ethnic minorities in the United States; people emigrate from their own country to another country; and people who have physically or mentally disabled.
