With our classrooms demographics becoming more and more diverse, the need for a culturally responsive management approach has increased. The Culturally Responsive Classroom Management (CRCM) approach takes into consideration the cultural differences of the classroom’s students and teacher. Weinstein, Tomlinson-Clarke, and Curran (as cited in p. 455) consider five elements of the CRCM approach to be of great relevance to teachers: recognition of ethnocentrism, knowledge of students’ culture, understanding the broader context, use of culturally appropriate management strategies, and commitment to caring classrooms.…

Approximately five million Polish immigrants came to the United States, fleeing their country for various reasons. Multicultural education is a plan or an approach, a scholastic improvement program, and a course of action. It integrates the conception that all scholars, despite of their race, ethnicity, and their cultural background, shall be allowed the same chance to learn in school. Teaching cultural diversity in a classroom can be very difficult, but not impossible. One of the key areas that sometimes go without notice is working with families and developing curriculum together so that their culture becomes a learning forum as well. This will not only teach, but bring about a sense of pride and comfort so that collaboration will continue throughout the school year and beyond. With that being said it is not always easy. Unfortunately there is a lot of concern about whether or not many teachers have the proper knowledge or experience working in or living in diverse environments (Robinson & Clardy, 2011). Equality is ensuring individuals or groups of individuals are treated fairly and equally and no less favourably than others. Equality is about the rights of the learners to attend and participate regardless of age, sex, race, gender reassignment, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marriage/civil partnership and pregnancy /maternity. Diversity is about recognising and being tolerant of different views which individual people have, in terms of cultural backgrounds and different lifestyle choices relating to any characteristics they may have. A diverse society is what we have as every individual has a different culture, belief and life experience to the next. Inclusion is about including all the learners in ‘relevant activities rather than excluding them for any reason either directly or indirectly’ (Gravells 2008). ‘Every learner has the right to expect that they will receive high quality learning appropriate to their needs and circumstances ion a safe and healthy environment.’ (Success for all: DfES 2002). Inclusive teaching and learning is possible when promoted. In order to achieve this I combine both the training cycle and the learning styles from Kolb and Fry. These include using Concrete experience, Abstract Conceptualisation, Active Experimentation and Observation and Reflection. Learners the mixing up of which produces the learning styles that best suits a learner, ie; Converger, Diverger, Assimilator and Accommodator. By ensuring the lessons accommodate all learning styles all learners will feel inclusion. Along with the learning styles I would include relevant resource materials . There a variety of differences amongst students in a classroom which include gender, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic differences. As a teacher, it is important to be aware of these differences in order to maximize the learning and development of all students. Dealing with children form various ethnic groups and cultures can be especially challenging. Teachers must be attentive towards students with cultural/ethnic differences, and may have to adapt their teaching styles in order to create a culturally inclusive classroom. For example, if a teaching was doing a lesson on music and art, he/she could play songs, and show artwork from various cultures. This would allow students to explore the different cultures they might not know much about, as well as make all the students feel included. However, this can be challenging task if a teacher has many students from various cultures. As educators we must focus our attention to the needs of the student because it they are not going to our school we as educators will not have the luxury of paying our bills, feeding our families and do the things we want to do. The focus of education need to reflect the needs of every student and cultural is another part of which this student is and by learning more about who they are we as educators will learn new ways to become effective teachers by listening to their needs. Every child is different and unique, they come many different cultural and different background and they each need special attention to how they learn. The diversity in education is also important because students learn better from teachers with similar language background and can relate to them in a special way. Every individual have rights and for them to have the best care they should be able to practice their rights as long as it doesn’t affect others around them or put themselves in danger. To have a supportive relationship with someone you would have to respect and value them and allow them to exercise their rights. One of the key principles in caring for a people is to develop a supportive relationship by helping and enabling them, this is done by empowering. Empowering clients means that a carer should give their clients choices when caring for them. For example, Mrs Martin is Muslim and she doesn’t eat pork but most of the other clients’ enjoys eating pork, so whenever pork is being prepared in the home for the other clients to eat the carer always ensure that Mrs Martin is given a choice about what she would like to eat. Giving clients choices will give them the sense of dignity and independence this will encourage them to take control over their own life and at the same time carer would be empowering their clients. This therefore means that carer is respecting clients’ right in a supportive relationship.…
The society of the United States of America is culturally diverse. This diversity reflects on the demographics that our schools have. Every school leader needs to understand the diversity that exists at their schools. Understanding the diversity will determine how professional educators meet the difficulties or handles everyday situations that a school generates. When I first started school at the very young age of six I remember stepping through the stone threshold and into a huge elementary school with diverse attributes like height, nationality, personality and race. It was amazing to see all the diverse people at the school including myself! I thought to myself that I wouldn’t fit into school with the other kindergarteners at first but I actually did because most of the kids in my class lived in my neighborhood. It felt so awesome to be in a diverse class with students that welcomed you with an open heart and even felt better to be getting an education than just sitting at home for five years and sleeping, eating, playing and drinking in a diaper.
