As part of our latest discussion of our company merger, we’d like to introduce the topic of workplace diversity as we enter this new environment. We are in the process of working our company expansion and my desire is that all of you take this as an exciting new venture, but we need your help!
Everyone should be aware that their behavior will most certainly affect the productivity of their subordinates. We must all be certain that we maintain a healthy work environment by living by the golden rule to treat others as you would like to be treated. There must always be equal treatment and be aware of others around us and respect their different backgrounds. "Culture helps people make sense of their part of the world. It provides them with an identity—one they retain even when they emigrate and is retained by their children and grandchildren as well” (Cascio, 2005). We should all be aware of the different individuals who surround us. We must also be aware that how we carry ourselves reflects on our employees. I would like you all to do your best to stay positive because your attitudes will be reflected by your employees. In my current position, I’ve felt that if I’m not surrounded by positivity, I begin to lag in my efforts as well. Remember, a manager is one of the front line individuals of the company so his or her behavior is a model of what the company stands for. As you know, we need everyone’s help and positive attitude to make this transition work at its best!
There are certain laws that I want to summarize with all of you in order to prepare for this changing environment. As you may know, there will be newly hired employees joining us as well as the ones that will be joining us from EnviroTech. It is very important that we all maintain a level of respect at all times.
