Diversity Observation Report
The ability to embrace Diversity will enhance one’s ability to collaborate with others as a team to solve or eradicate many social issues or misunderstandings. My own observations and experiences I believe started when I was born, my family is very diverse. My mother’s family is multicultural thus diversity was a big influence in my formative years that carried over into whom I am now. Because of this I feel I am a compassionate and observant of others feelings and needs when it comes to how each of us fit into our multicultural society. Diversity surrounds each of us in different facets I have been able to glean perspectives from my past personal, professional, academicals and volunteer experiences. I volunteered the last 2 1/2 years with the Longmont Community Justice Partnership, I have seen various accounts where people from all different and diverse backgrounds come together to accomplish goals to prevent many young non-repeat offenders from going to …show more content…
I am a one of many mediators that coordinate the victim to come face to face with their perpetrator. I have been involved in such group sessions to mediate through compassion and forgiveness. I have observed this first hand unfold and I found it to be impactful, powerful and in all cases very moving. Again, my observations have been the perpetrators and victims come from very diverse demographics, but I understand now no matter the differences the diversity does not hinder the healing process. By having a fundamental understanding and openness can lead to some powerful movements to heal the damage and rebuild the relationship into something bigger. I feel this experience has helped me grow while I was involved with teams or groups that embrace the diversity broader understanding has expanded my perception of the world.
