Do School Uniforms Kill Individuality?
My opponent claims that school uniforms should not aloud in schools. Nevertheless, some critics say school uniforms kill individuality, while this might be true, they have not look at the other factors of school uniforms. If we were to have school uniforms, girls would not have that extra pressure to look a certain way, while it may kill the individuality, school is about learning not what you are wearing. In addition, critics also argue that uniforms are expensive which is completely tomfoolery. If u added up all the clothes you buy all year for school to “look good” and “pretty,” or that one uniform that you will wear all year, everyone will come to the conclusion that uniforms are extensively cheaper. Lastly, they argue that school uniforms

In the article, “Pros and Cons of School Uniforms” it states, “If the children of a school are out causing trouble wearing the uniform from a school, it can reflect badly on that school and result in fewer parents wanting to send their children there” this explains that if a students is causing trouble outside the school, people that saw it they would know what school the students came from.…

Many Americans are oblivious to the controversy of school uniforms but it is, nonetheless, a highly debated issue among students and families. Private schools often enforce uniforms, which are standardized to indigo or khaki pants and collared shirts limited to the school colors. Many of the public schools in the United States that do not have a uniform policy, administer a dress code which the students often neglect and teachers fail to implement. Those in opposition to school uniforms argue that they remove individuality and violate the right of self-expression. However, schools should approbate uniforms as they offer many benefits for students and families.…

There are students that aren’t against the school uniform. They say that school uniforms are not expensive. But I don’t agree with what they say, because I think if we wear school uniform every day, we will waste our own clothes. they might say that you will not get bullied, because of the uniform you wear every day. I think that you will still get bullied but not because of how you look in school uniform. Bullies are bullies, no matter what clothes their targets wear.…

This paper is about the issue of school uniforms and whether or not for schools (K-12) to require them. I analyzed three strong arguments from both sides of the issue. The side advocating uniforms argued that school uniforms keep students focused, which may lead to an improvement of grades. Advocates state uniforms deter students from crimes and save money for parents by relieving parents of the pressure of buying new clothes for every school year. The other side of the issue against uniforms in schools argue that uniforms threaten and infringe on student’s freedom of expression by requiring students to wear the uniforms with consequences if not hearkened. The opposition to uniforms also presented a study where the students oppose…

There’s been a lot of controversy on whether or not school uniforms should be a new school policy at many schools nationwide. Many people believe that school uniforms help students with their academic performance knowing that students will focus more on what they are learning than what they are wearing. Wearing uniforms will also help balance out judging other classmates on the clothes they wear and where they purchased them from. Other people have different thoughts on school uniforms and how they would affect their learning in a negative way. Many people think they have a negative impact on learning because a lot of their rights get taken away because they can’t express themselves and they have to be the same as everyone else. The price of school uniforms can get pretty pricy and when it come to people who aren't as privileged…

    Opposing School Uniforms

I have three or more points on why I am for school uniforms and why others are against uniforms. When students wear school uniforms, it shows what school they belong. For instance, if there were no uniform policy, anyone could walk into the school building fitting into the crowd with everyone else and the employees of the school would not know who belongs and who doesn’t belong. There could be a stranger waiting in the boys or girls bathroom waiting to harm one of the students. If the schools go with the uniform policy, this will help stop this action from occurring. If…

The essay school uniforms are a terrible idea states that. School uniforms fail to achieve the goals for which a school uniform was established suck as to save students money to, to prevent violence, and create a more organized school environment. The essay also states the uniforms restrict student’s freedom of expression. That school uniforms have led to more violence and that since no studies have yet proven that a uniform policy can solve more problems than they create. This is not necessarily true and uniform policies are not nearly as terrible as the essay would like us to believe. The essay states that the intent of school uniforms was to save students money but that instead of saving money they cost more money and that the writers brother’s uniform cost much more that any outfit from a discount store so it concludes that the uniform policy should be discarded but it is based on the assumption that just because his/her brother’s uniform cost more than regular clothing then every uniform must cost more than regular clothing. She/he commits the logical fallacy of false analogy. My school uniform only cost me around twenty dollars when a t-shirt from a store like forever21 cost me thirty-four dollar. She then claims that if every student was required to pay as much as her/his brother then many students would not be able to afford an education and concludes that uniforms are a very bad idea. But this based on the assumption that because his/her brother would not be able to afford school that many other would also not be able to afford an education which is not necessarily true. She/he commits the logical fallacy of false analogy. Many of my friends would be able to afford a uniform when their parents have high paying jobs. In her next argument she/ he call principals who put forth a uniform policy tyrannical and school boards puritanical and say that they are denying poor students constitutional rights.…

    2) The competing side of my argument is not to enforce a mandatory school uniform policy. They believe that enforcing children and youth to wear uniform takes away from their freedom of expressing themselves and their values. Forcing children and youth to wear uniform can also prevent them from learning to adapt to social context and standards. What if a student is homosexual and they cross dress, should they have to be forced to wear clothes out of their comfort zone? Why should students have to wear the same type of clothing style for summer as they do for winter, then they will have to spend more money to get a different type of style. Also the price of tax will go up, trying to fund for families who cannot afford school uniform for their children. Uniforms might also influence children and youth from other schools who are not required to wear uniform to bully students who are required to wear uniform.…

In conclusion, I believe that school uniforms really don’t have a use and should not be used in schools. They limit students ability to express themselves through their clothing. They also don’t help with bullying and violence, they even make it worse. Lastly they don’t help with grades and attendance in school. There is no legitimate reason for schools to make their students wear these school uniforms and I believe that we should exclude school uniforms from all…

However, most public schools are turning to something more casual and more acceptable to parents and students: khakis or jeans and knit shirts of varying colors. The latter appear to be more affordable too because they can be used outside of school. Many school districts that have implemented school uniforms have provided some sort of financial assistance for families that can not afford the extra expense.…

There is much heat when it comes to schools making decisions on, dress code each year. Schools let parents and students decide whether uniforms should be worn for the upcoming school year. Of course, many will vote yes, and there are some who vote no. Most likely schools will go with the result that has the most votes. Ultimately, the principal of the school is the decision maker when it comes to the dress code for the school year. Uniforms should be worn in public schools for multiple reasons such as fewer distractions from another student’s clothes; it is less money is spent than on regular clothes, and better attendance rates.…

One of the reasons that school uniforms should not be allowed in schools because they are not cost effective. One reason why they are not cost effective is because some families cannot afford multiple uniforms, plus the clothes that students wear outside of school (Pakhare 1). Unlike the students who can afford three, four, or five uniforms, the poorer students’ one uniform will look worn out and used by mid-semester compared to everyone else (Stainburn 1). It will be easier to pick out the kids who cannot afford much. The social boundaries that uniforms were trying to get rid of will still occur with or without them (Cruz 47). The second reason behind why school…
