Should School Uniforms Be Worn

There is much heat when it comes to schools making decisions on, dress code each year. Schools let parents and students decide whether uniforms should be worn for the upcoming school year. Of course, many will vote yes, and there are some who vote no. Most likely schools will go with the result that has the most votes. Ultimately, the principal of the school is the decision maker when it comes to the dress code for the school year. Uniforms should be worn in public schools for multiple reasons such as fewer distractions from another student’s clothes; it is less money is spent than on regular clothes, and better attendance rates. One reason that students in public schools should wear uniforms is a good idea is that it is less costly than regular clothes. Most kids usually get the latest trends to fit in rather than wearing the old trends and
causing many problems in school. Most of today’s trends are very costly for parents to buy and end up having to work harder to but the trendy clothes for their child or children. When parents shop with kids before, school starts, it takes time for students to find or choose the right outfit to wear. Uniforms, on the other hand, are easier to choose since schools have certain colors that are worn. Uniforms are cheaper than regular clothing and parents can save both money and time. Another reason that students in public schools should wear uniforms is that there are fewer distractions from the learning environment. When students wear regular clothing the language found on the clothing of another student may be vulgar language or may contain inappropriate pictures which could cause problems with other students. Distractions are a burden to students. Students who are distracted by disruptions are missing out vital information for that class. This causes the student to play catch up when they return to class. Teachers have to take the time to help that student catch up in very little time. Uniforms will prevent any issues with language or inappropriate images on regular clothing and fewer distractions for students. One other reason that public schools should wear uniforms is that student attendance rates are increased.
Students who wear uniforms are more likely to have high attendance rates than wearing regular clothing to school. Schools that wear regular clothing have lower attendance rates than schools that wear uniform. Students are more likely to succeed when wearing uniforms. When the students attendance rate increases, students make better grades and makes the school looks good. Schools with high attendance rates can have better funding to make improvements to the school. Many will argue that public schools should not wear uniforms for many reasons. One may say that regular clothing is a way of expressing ourselves in public. Yes we may have the ability to express ourselves but to a certain extent. While in school you do not really have that freedom of expression as one would at home. Schools can enforce dress code guidelines to be followed when wearing regular clothing. Some people will express themselves in the wrong way and many problems will arise when doing so. Freedom of expression only goes so far while at
school.
Uniforms are a great benefit for schools as it helps the school in many ways. Students are able to concentrate on their assignments with no distractions. Parents do not have to spend hundreds of dollars on clothing, and instead save money on uniforms. Schools that require uniforms have better attendance rates than other schools.
