Why Schools Should Not Have School Uniforms
The real question is should schools have uniforms? Many people would argue both sides. There are many reasons why there should be school uniforms. There are also many reasons why there should not be school uniforms. This paper will cover why there should not be school uniforms. Schools should not have uniforms because it does not allow for students to express individuality. Students should be able to be themselves. They need to be able to stand out and be unique. No one wants to live in a world where everyone is the same or looks the same. According to statistic brain 34% of parents and 5% of teachers think that uniforms“ hinder self expression and creativity”, and 36% parents think that the “policy hinders individual student’s personal liberty.” Students need to be able to express individuality because they are not the same as everyone else and they should be able to share that. should have uniforms is because students parents spend good money on clothing for their kids and the children should be able to wear them. Parents don’t spend their money so that their children's’ clothes can sit on a shelf for the entire school year. Parents certainly don't want to buy their children clothes that they will wear once and then grow out of because it has been a year since they have been able to wear that outfit.
Parents definitely font want to buy clothes that their kids don’t even like.
One more reason why school should not have uniforms is because some kids might look different in their uniforms than other kids and this is a cause for bullying. Wearing uniforms helps point out that some kids look different that other kids. According to statistic brain 47% of parents and 90% of techers say that uniforms “have adressed to peer pressure issue of ‘fitting in’ by wearing specific brands.”When these differences are pointed out children might start bullying other children, causing kids to have hurt feelings. If you really think about it ullying will occur with or without bullying. The last reason why kids should not have school uniforms is because some kids are not comfoertable in certain things. Some students like leggings, some like jeans, some like dresses, etc. Students should be able to wear what they are comfortable in. School should have dress codes.
