In doctor assisted suicide, the doctor basically ends the life of the terminally ill patient but, the patient does the final act of ending his or her life. This difference is only when active voluntary euthanasia is used(McCuen, Gary). When using euthanasia, there are many people who can end the life of the terminally ill patient, the doctor, the family of the patient, or the patient themselves. Most of the time, the patient doesn’t do it themselves, they let their doctor do it with medical reason(Yount-2001). These only happen when the patient is termailly ill. “A person is usually considered terminally ill when doctors expect him or her to survive for less than six months.” (Yount-2001).
