Introduction
With the growth of computers processing power, software and Internet speed, computers and computer programs have joined the battle in the fight against crime. Starting in 1994, the New York City Police Department started using CompStat (Computer Statistics or Comparative Statistics) crime database information and analytical tools. Much like the movie Minority Report, these enhanced decision making tools might even be able to identify suspects before a crime is committed. It was widely discussed after the World Trade Center 9-11 event that the government had an advanced computer predictive tool named Able Danger that identified all of the 9-11 terrorists before the event happened. Sadly this information was not shared with the FBI or local officials for unknown reasons. If true, then these advanced predictive tools already exist and it will only be a matter of time before they make it to the public or private
