Empathy is something that matters very much in my work place. Being empathetic towards people makes them feel like you understand where they are coming from and are trying to understand their situation they are in. Showing each individual person that they matter and that they are not just another person in your day of work can really make the difference in their day and possible hardship they are going through. There would be great benefit to the organization and the workplace if people were empathetic
This is something that is particularly hard in my current career. We are so understaffed, corporate only allows us so many hours, and over worked, so with our plates full it’s hard to give the time needed to each customer/patient when we are being timed on every movement. I have been able to get a little better over the years but time is the shortage that many health care providers face when being empathetic.
