Does marketing reflect the needs and wants of consumers? Marketing does reflect the needs and wants of consumers. We all need products to live in the world. Although some consumers may prefer one product over another which depends on his or her financial situation. Nonetheless we all need basically the same everyday used products to live no matter how they are marketed. These products would include food, drinks, toiletry items, clothing, hygiene products, and etc. “Everybody can want something but only a few people have the means to acquire it” (Lynch, 2009). Just because a consumer wants product marketing may or may not influence them to purchase it. Again it depends on those consumers financial situations that will ultimately determine if he or she needs or wants the product. Marketers may market a product so good perform a service above expectations that will pull a consumer in to buy even if it is not affordable.
Does marketing shape consumer needs and wants?
Marketing also shapes consumer needs and wants. So me advertising is designed to draw the consumers in to a purchasing a certain. There are times when I think consumers buy products mainly on how it is advertised whether they need or even want the product. With all marketing and advertising the goal is to get the consumer’s attention and the word “free” or “free trial” being used regardless of the product definitely gets the consumers attention. When these words are used there is usually a catch that consumers ignore.
