Oedipus damages others because of his irreverence. Oedipus is being unpleasant to Tiresias, a blind prophet, because Tiresias was speaking his mind and telling the truth. Then Oedipus goes on and criticizing Tiresias and calling him nasty names. “What a wicked old man you are! You’d try a stone’s Patience! Out with it! Have you no feeling at all?” (Sophocles 1.18). Oedipus was frustrated with Tiresias because Tiresias was saying that Oedipus was the killer and blaming him for killing Laïos. Oedipus is being unpleasant towards his family member(s). Oedipus is criticizing Creon because Oedipus thinks he killed the king and wants to kill him. “If you think a man can sin against his own kind and not be punished for it, I say you are mad” (Sophocles 2.29). Oedipus is attacking Creon with his words because he thinks Creon killed Laïos and wants to kill him, even though Creon is family to him. Nobody should have been treated so poorly by Oedipus especially if they are his family
