Dog Observation Report
The plan today is to go to Sparta, IL to visit two clients, one client was at home and the other client was at school. My first visit was with Hulk; a seventeen year old White male. He is on probation for auto theft. Hulk and his friends stole a car and went joy riding around town. Hulk lives in a trailer with his mother and step-father. When we approached the trailer I was hesitant to go in because it was dirty outside and it smelled of animals. I like animals, but I hate the odor of animals. When the caseworker opened the door Hulk answered the door and I was bombarded by two dogs. Hulk has three dogs and a cat. One dog was barking from the time we got in the door until we sat down then the other two dogs were jumping and sniffing the caseworker …show more content…
I was glad that Hulk did that because I could now focus on what was going on a little bit better. The younger dog was still so excited and wanted to play with me. As I was pushing the dog off of my back she felt that was a sign that I wanted to play and she became more playful. The caseworker was watching me as to how I was handling the situation. I wanted to wait in the car because the dog was just so hyper and I did not want the dog smell on my clothes. However, I did not leave I stuck it out. I am allergic to dog saliva so I was trying to be cautious to make sure that the dog did not lick me. Finally, when the dog sat down for a few minutes I could pay attention to the conversation. Hulk and his girlfriend are in GED classes together and they were talking about how good their grades are. They just took the constitution and they passed so they were happy about that. When they were talking about the constitution I kind of reflected back on how many times I had to take the constitution. I had to take it three times; one in elementary school, another in high school, and in college. As the caseworker and Hulk were talking he flamed up a cigarette. Oh my goodness, I hate the smell of cigarettes; however, I sat there and showed no sign of me not liking the smell. While all of this was going on I thought to myself that caseworkers/social workers have to endure a lot and I did not know that it was that bad. The visit was quick because the caseworker just wanted to talk to him to see how things was going on with him. The caseworker meet with Hulk once a month because he is complying with all of his Redeploy and probation rules and will be off of probation in

When we arrived I was amazed at all the different costumes. There was a couple that had two bulldogs. The male was dressed as a gentleman, and the female was dressed in a little queen outfit. They were so amazingly cute. As me and Tailgate walked around, there was a woman that fell in love with Tailgate. She followed us the entire time, taking pictures of Tailgate. Then we entered the last building there was a woman with two Boston terroirs. They were attacking other dogs, growling, nipping. The sad thing is the lady did not stop their behavior. When we were close Tailgate hid behind my leg. I did not realize there was a couple behind me until I heard this low growl. They had a huge pit bull. The little dogs decided they were going to attack the bigger pit bull, and he let them know he was not going to back down from them. Well the lady with the two little dogs scooped up her little minions and let this gasp out. She was telling anyone that would listen how this big bad Pitbull tried to eat her babies. I was so mad. She could not control her little pups, and it took a growl from another dog, (it had to be a pit), for her to finally control them.…

Should people be allowed to keep pit bull dogs? Pit bull dogs seem to come up in many news topics, and it always seems to be bad news. Nine times out of ten when a dog is in the news it seems to be bad mouthing pit bulls, the news never shows the good side to the breed, which there are a lot of good things about the dogs. As a owner and someone who know many people who own the breed, I strongly disagree. Every breed has the potential to be aggressive and will at some point have at least one instance that another breed will do something bad. I was skeptical about the breed when I was first given the puppy, but now I would never trade her for the world.…

Some people think that Pit Bulls are inherently vicious but that is not true, Pit Bulls are only vicious if someone makes them that way. There are not bad dogs, only bad people. A pit bull is not inherently vicious, if they are aggressive and attack, either the person most likely deserved it or they were trained to do so. Furthermore, Pit bulls are no more vicious than Golden Retrievers, Beagles, and other well known dogs. There was a recent study by the American Temperament Testing Society that tested 122 dog breeds and Pit Bulls had a passing score of 86.8%. Pit Bulls ranked fourth for the highest passing breed in this study. You are very unlikely to be fatally attacked by a Pit Bull. In fact, you are 60 times more likely to die from falling…

Four paws, wagging tail, and cold wet nose, the image that comes to mind probably isn’t a Rottweiler, Doberman, or Pit Bull even though the description covers all dogs. Assuming you are like most people you associate those specific breeds with junkyards, heavy chain leashes, and flash of sharp white gnashing teeth. Have you ever been bitten by one of these breeds or had a negative encounter? Probably not, but just like so many other misconceptions provided by the media, you believe it. Per the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, “Approximately 4.5 million dog bites occur each year in the United States.” (“Dog Bite Prevention”). There always seems to…

How would you feel if a pet you had since you were a child could no longer be by your side because the county you live in does not allow them anymore? This scenario is very possible due to the Breed Specific Legislation law (BSL). This law regulates which animals are not allowed in a certain area. BSL began in the 1980’s when the number of dog bites went up significantly in the U.S. As people noticed this trend, states began becoming stricter with their breed regulatory laws. The laws were really aimed at pit bull terriers and their mixes even though the law was supposed to be aimed at “dangerous dogs to society.” BSL is not limited to just dogs. Other animals are included in this…

Tell me, what is the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions a Pit Bull? I can't speak for everyone, but most of you didn't think of some cute, cuddly, playful puppy. Most of you envisioned a savage, snarling, devil dog, chained to post in an abandoned yard totally focused on tearing you to shreds. Such stereotypes are created and amplified by scandalous media reports which contribute greatly to societies' growing fear of these dogs. Fear implores a responsibility for the government to protect its people. So, Pit Bulls are being killed as a result of ignorance and fear, while dog bite related injuries and fatalities continue to rise because the true cause, irresponsible owners, is overlooked.…

My dog, Pepper, is a black Cocker Spaniel, and she loves to greet her owners at the door when we walk in. Her little butt starts wagging really fast, and she has the biggest smile on her face. On Friday the 13th, I was walking inside my house with a friend. I wasn't thinking of my little dog being right there. When I stepped inside, I heard a loud squeal. Pepper quickly ran from me, and my mom rushed to the door. I realized that I had accidentally stepped on my poor puppy's paw. I…

I received a call from my son’s uncle, Harold asking if I would give him a ride to a friend’s house to examine some pit bull puppies she had for sale. At first I had planned other activities for the day, but my daughter who overheard the conversation begged me to go. I made the plans to pick him up and as we were getting ready to leave, I reminded my daughter that we were not going for us. I had owned dogs in years past, and after the last one was stolen out of my yard, decided it was too painful to own a dog. Also, I had heard all the horror stories of people having pit bulls around their kids. When we arrived at my friend, Courtney’s house, I heard the deep barking from inside. My friend motioned for us to wait at the front door as she put…
