My team’s objectives were to raise the awareness of our charity, raise over £1000 and raise as much money as possible and to run successful events. We were given £100 to start our events and had to budget what we spent. We had to decide our individual roles before we started planning any of the events so we all knew what we had to do but this was a bit of a struggle as it was hard to define, in the early stages, who had what roles. However, our team was effective because we all helped each other with different tasks and then all began to found out our strengths and our weaknesses. We all listened to each other and try to make everyone in the team feel welcome and not make them feel left out. For example, When Sandie joined our group it was a while after the team was formed so she may have felt a bit left out but we all tried to make her feel welcome and she took on the role of being in charge of all the health and safety and risk assessments for the event.…

Next, Chucky is a villain because he is clever enough that people must lend him respect. In the movie Child's Play, Chucky went to see his voodoo doctor named John who once has taught him the spell of how to transform a body. Chucky was shocked when he got shot and did not think anyone could hurt him. However, the wound hurts him and it even bled. Chucky wanted the respect from John to help transform his body back to a human, but he refuses to help Chucky. John tries to call someone on the phone, and Chucky follows him. Chucky knew that the man was not going to agree to help him, so he uses a voodoo doll of John and broke one of John's leg. Dolls. We are surrounded by dolls. G. I. Joe, Barbie, Polly Pocket, and WWF action figures. Prior to our plasticene friends we had paper dolls, marionettes, and delicately featured porcelain dolls. We are strangely fascinated by these cold, lifeless objects that look so much like ourselves. Children clutch them and create elaborate scenes, while adults are content to simply collect, allowing them to sit, motionless on a shelf, staring coolly back at their live counterparts. Which brings us to and interesting point, are people simply dolls for other people to play with or collect?

One could make the argument…

When I was younger I loved dolls; I loved playing pretend with them, dressing them up, and pretending that they were real. For my younger self to hear of a doll that not only could talk but could move her eyes on mouth on her own was mind blowing. I saw a lot of cheery commercials on television for a doll called Amazing Amanda. It was so cool; the doll even had the same name as me! When I ripped through the colorful Barbie wrapping paper Christmas day and saw that it was the Amazing Amanda doll I jumped around like a grasshopper and raced to go find batteries. I played with that doll everyday, singing songs with her loudly which probably sounded more like off-key screeching. It was incredible to me to watch her glassy, blue eyes blink and…

The character within “Barbie Doll” starts off as a happy child that continues her early childhood as a happy girl. She engages in activities that any normal girl child would engage in, such as playing with her dolls. Once she enters puberty the difficulties arise. She is teased by her classmates for having a big nose and fat legs. This caused her a great deal of stress and anxiety. She was advised to alter her diet, and exercise. This obviously did not work out because she became even more insecure and frustrated with herself. Her good attitude ultimately wore out because nothing seemed to work. Her final attempt was to have herself physically altered by a plastic surgeon. She ultimately dies from the…

In the play A Dollhouse by Henrik Ibsen realism plays a major part in how the ending played out. Most stories have that happily ever after feel, but in A Dollhouse things are not as they seem. In the beginning it looked like it is going to be one of those stories with a happy family who seems to be the ideal couple with money, kids, and a nice house. However, as time goes by the plot starts to become more realistic; Nora starts to question her marriage and her sanity. In Brian Johnston’s essay, “Realism and a Doll House,” he discusses how verbal irony plays an important role in the play. The word ‘wonderful’ is used in a different context in each part of the book. The use of the word ‘wonderful’ in three different ways is a good way of foreshadowing the decline of Nora and Torbert’s relationship. In Oedipus the King, Oedipus starts out a proud man and then finds out that he slept with his mother, killed his father, and as a result was dethroned and banished. The mood of the play goes from light to darker as the play goes on and more is revealed. That is realism it is about the human condition; people’s mistakes, lies, and problems without sugarcoating it. Some people do not like reading books inspired by realism because it gives them a magnified look at themselves through the characters. So therefore, the human condition is what inspires plays like A Dollhouse and Oedipus the King into a metaphorical rendition of how human beings really are, and using the different context of words to create a sense of foreboding for the characters.…

First of all, the body of a Barbie doll is very impractical. Have you seen the measurements of a Barbie doll? She has a neck twice as long as and six inches thinner than an average woman. In reality she would be physically incapable of lifting her over-sized head. Also with a waist size of 16 inches, she would only have room for her liver and a few centimeter of her intestine. And for her feet, if Barbie was a “human”, her shoe size would be size 3 kids. She would not be able to stand straight. Statistic shows that it’s nearly impossible for someone to have a body or look like Barbie.…
